For as long as I can remember I have been interested in how things are built and how they work. This translated to my studies at Texas A&M University College Station, Texas where I enrolled as an engineering major. I quickly discovered the architecture program through a close friend. I soon switched majors to Environmental Design with an emphasis on Architecture, truly found my calling, and never looked back. After graduating from college I worked at an established architecture firm in Waco, Texas for 7 years. During my time with this firm, I was given notable opportunities to grow in the profession as a designer and project manager for a large number of higher education projects. My work with universities and libraries led to a position as an Architect for my alma mater, Texas A&M University, where I acted as an owner’s representative for the university. I worked with various departments to engage architects and contractors to complete many different types of projects. I then had the opportunity to return to Waco and begin a new adventure working as the design-build architect, estimator, and project manager for a growing construction company. After two years, I moved north to the Michiana area and returned to the architectural community with Arkos Design. As a result of the diverse positions that I’ve held in the architecture and construction fields, I have had the unique opportunity to manage projects from each stake-holder’s perspective from initial conception through construction completion. As an Arkos team member, I am excited to build on this knowledge and my extensive portfolio to holistically approach each of our client’s unique projects.
I have at times been labeled an adrenalin junkie, although I don’t personally aspire to adhere to this label. From the air, I have bungee-jumped in Whistler, Canada and have made over 130 skydive jumps. In the sea, I have my SCUBA certification. And on land, I have raced road bikes and mountain bikes competitively. I combined these interests by competing in triathlons such as the XTERRA world championships, half Ironmans, and one full Ironman. More recently, I have settled into a routine of riding bicycles several times a week and enjoying time off with my fiancé. Together we take pleasure in cultural events, nights at the symphony, good food, traveling, and spending time with our families both in Texas and New York.
