Completed Date

August 2013

Construction Administration for a 53,000-SF student residence building. The site and landscape design at the new higher education building and residential quad, including patio spaces, integrated seating elements for student gatherings, and play fields for informal sports.

Southwestern Michigan College has experienced significant growth in enrollment over the past several years, with two student housing buildings recently completed.  The increased demand for on-campus housing placed a third building at the top of the College’s priority list.  Arkos Design, having compiled a campus-wide Master Plan, was hired to develop the site plan and landscape design for the new building, as well as to perform Construction Administration (CA) services.  Arkos Design was engaged throughout the construction process and regularly inspected the building and site for compliance with the construction drawings and specifications, and provided field reports to apprise the College of progress.

Administrative tasks completed as part of CA included reviewing submittals, proposed change orders, and applications for payment.
