The corporate administration office addition was designed with amenities to attract and maintain the best employees. The exterior complements the existing building, while the interior incorporates contemporary workstations, collaboration spaces, and an employee fitness room.
This addition provided a new corporate office for the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago Service Corporation. The project includes 19 private offices, two conference rooms, an open office area, an employee lounge, a fitness center, and a patio. The owner challenged the design team to match the character of the existing one-story facility and incorporate the addition with little evidence to adding on, but rather enhancing the existing building. The height of the two-story office addition is visually reduced by a second-floor offset from the first floor and surrounded by a hipped roof.
Borrowed lights bring natural daylight into all interior spaces of the building while also promoting open communication and interaction among employees.
